The Minimum Value Proposition Hackathon

MVP Hack is a personal project by Tom Castro. 

 The goal of this site is to collect research to demonstrate how to leverage the MVP Hackathon format for engagement, teamwork, and shared learning, without the heavy emphasis on technology.

Background and Disclaimers

  • Our site includes advertising modules (like: Google AdSense) and links to Amazon products (via Amazon Associates). We appreciate any click-through, but do not expect to make a fortune on the transactions from this blog. 
  • My policy is to cite, credit, and link -- since content should belong to the creator and not to a curator or some aggregation bot. My ideas are not nearly as clever.
  • Citations may appear to be long, but many web pages are archived when they get older. I'm trying to capture context and avoid link-rot. Full URLs are included to support citation. 
  • My day job is working as a Program Manager in the Information Technology (IT) area.
    • Program Manager is a fancy way of saying "scruffy looking nerf-herder".
    • I'm still working on the "scruffy looking" part.
  • Previous employer history: Dell, Microsoft, Citibank, Charles Schwab, Gap, and several other insurance and finance companies.
  • Tom grew up an Army Brat and attended public elementary school, public middle school, an all-boys private Catholic High School, and a Jesuit University, then private post-grad schools. (Therapy sessions are on-going.)
  • Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Graduate Certificate in Web Development, and a Master of Business Administration.

Creating a Portable Bibliography MS Word Bibliography Every time you use the Bibliography Tool in MS Word, your sources are stored in 2 places: the Citation List embedded in your paper, and the Master List stored on the computer you are working on. Tools - Feedly

Feedly - Follow Thought Leaders (and avoid the noise). Feedly  is  blog and new aggregator application. Users can create categories to track topics of interest without the noise of click-bait and intrusive advertisements. The free version allows you to follow 100 sources. Choose wisely and you will never run out of actionable content.  Feedly runs as an extension, or web page in nearly every browser. It is also available as an app in the Google Play Store (Feedly for Android) and the Apple iStore ( Feedly iStore ). It is not available on Kindle Fire devices. Feedly - Follow Thought Leaders I use Feedly (Feedly:  https://feedly.com )  to follow ~100 blogs (RSS feeds) including these blogs specific to Education. They are not listed in any order, and some are a bit "commercial", but I've collected notes and ideas from all of them. You can add them to your bookmarks, but Feedly runs a continuous stream of ideas, allowing you to skim over the headlines, then deep dive into the details.
